Laurie helped me put together a mahjong set for my wife's birthday and made the whole process ridiculously easy. I filled out her consultation form with a budget and a few notes about my wife's style, and she came back with a perfectly coordinated set — tiles, racks, and scuba mat thing — that looked incredible. When my wife opened it she was completely floored, and when she brought it to play with friends the next week the reaction was basically envy all around. Laurie is an amazing teacher! She is so positive and brings so much joy to learning the game. I was a little intimidated, but she put me and all the players at ease. She is very patient and encouraging. To get us started she explained all the basics. Then she walked us through games and helped us identify strategies. She also followed up with an email that was full of tips on where to play and purchase tiles, racks etc. The whole experience was awesome!!

I had such a great experience at Laurie's @itsaMahjing. I showed up with no experience and a little anxious, but Laurie made me feel comfortable from the moment we first connected over text to the time I arrived. I met two lovely women, and Laurie guided us through the basics, introducing the beautiful tiles and sharing the key details we needed to get started before easing us into playing our first hand. I still have a lot to learn, but I really enjoyed it. It reminded me a little of dominoes and cards, which I've always loved, but with its own unique twist. I love the idea of combining a little competition with meeting new people and sharing the experience of learning together.
